This guide lays out the upgrade path that the community has converged on as the most efficient for finishing Snap the Cat as quickly as possible. Individual preferences may vary, but if you follow this path you will never waste tokens on a node that slows your overall progression.

Phase 1: Foundation (first 30 minutes)

Priority order:

1. Film Capacity — more shots per round means more chances to get a great photo
2. Camera Quality — permanent improvement to every photo you take
3. Follower Gain — percentage multiplier that makes every payout more valuable

Spend all tokens here before anything else. These three nodes form a foundation that makes every subsequent investment more valuable. Skipping them to buy cosmetic upgrades is the most common mistake new players make.

Phase 2: Token Economy (30–90 minutes)

Once the core three are purchased, invest in:

Token Drop Rate — increases tokens earned per session. This directly accelerates your ability to buy further upgrades.

Biome Bonus (your preferred biome) — if you have unlocked a second biome, start investing in its branch. The multiplicative bonus applies to every photo taken in that biome.

At this point you should have a comfortable follower base (several hundred to a few thousand) and the game should feel significantly less grindy.

Phase 3: Scaling (90 minutes to 100%)

With a solid token income, begin filling:

Rarity Attraction — increases the chance of rare cats appearing in your sessions. Rare cats award significantly more likes and make every session more valuable.

Costume Efficiency — improves the bonus from costumes. Once you have rare cats, dressing them up becomes worthwhile.

New biome branches — as you unlock new biomes, invest in their branches to maintain a high token income.

Late-game nodes

The final tier of nodes costs thousands of tokens and represents the last stretch to 100% completion. These are only reachable in the final hour of a thorough playthrough:

Global Multiplier — a percentage bonus applied to all likes earned. The single most powerful node in the tree.

Extra Costume Slot — allows two costumes per cat, doubling costume bonuses.

What not to buy

• Cosmetic-only upgrades before Phase 3
• Token sinks that do not improve your earning rate
• Duplicate nodes in branches you do not use

Comparison with the demo

The full game added Token Drop Rate and several new biome branches that were not present in the demo. Demo players should note that the best build has changed somewhat since launch.
